'Bioshock Infinite' release delayed till 2013

1 hr.

One of this year's most anticipated video games has officially become one of next year's. "Bioshock Infinite" has been postponed until 2013 according to developer?Irrational Games, and publisher?Take Two Interactive.

The game was originally slated to be out in?October?2012, but all that changed with a blog post on?Irrational?s homepage Wednesday morning. It's a statement from the game's lead designer Ken Levine, who starts off by saying that "we felt pretty good about the timing" when the launch date was announced in March.

Since then, we?ve come to realize that some specific tweaks and improvements will make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need, we?ve decided to move the game?s release to February 26, 2013. We wanted to let our loyal (and very patient!) fans know this as soon as possible.

Levine goes on to explain that there was a similar situation with the first game, and how the?"Big Daddies weren?t the Big Daddies you?ve since come to know and love," along with other examples to illustrate his point.

Nor will the game make an appearance at E3 or Gamescom later this year. Levine's message ends with "That way, the next time you see our game, it will be essentially the product we intend to put in the box."
